In Girls Softball

Serena were winners on the road at Plano 11-9

For the Lady Huskers Makayla McNally homered and drove in two.  

 

Ottawa hosted Peoria Notre Dame and Lincoln-Way West in a three team round robin. The Lady Pirates defeated Notre Dame 10-0 but suffered their 1st loss of the season to Lincoln Way 7-0.

For Ottawa Ryleigh Stehl had a single, double and three RBIs,

 

The Streator Lady Bulldogs lost at home to Peotone 3-2.

 

Over in High School Baseball

Ottawa won on the road at Sandwich 20-2  in four innings.

The Pirates Jake Serby pitched all four innings with seven strikeouts to earn the victory.

 

Seneca swept Roanoke-Benson in a doubleheader.

Game one the Fighting Irish won 6-3 and in game two won 12-8.

 

The Ottawa JV tennis team competed at the Timothy Christian Quadrangular meet over the weekend.

Winners for the Pirates:  Adam Gross won in singles,  Sebastian Cabrera / Daniel Reinhardt won in doubles and Owen Phillips/Landen Thorsen also won as partners.

 

In Wrestling

The Ottawa Pirates hosted Rock Island and Sycamore for a season-opening triangular meet.

Scoring wins for the Pirates were  Alberto Villareal ,Casey Kammerer, Tristan Simmons, Grason Johnson, Hunter Duffy and Charles Medrow.

 

Seneca competed in a triangular meet with Tremont and host team Princeton.

Winners for the fighting Irish: Luke Sangston, Kyler Hahn, Jaden Casey, Owen Feiner, Asher Hambry, Gavin Robertson and Gavin Mason.

 

The LP team lost to both Kaneland and West Aurora

The Cavaliers Conor Lorden went 2-0 on the day and Alex Vela got his first varsity win.

 

Streator won at home to Coal City 2-0 in girls soccer.

For the Lady Bulldogs Bridget McGurk scored the game’s only two goals and  goalie Sydney Donahue made 13 saves .

 

The Marquette Crusaders track team competed at Dwight against Clifton Central and St. Anne.

For the Cru, senior Lucas Hoffman won in the 3200m. For the Lady Cru, senior Molly Snook brought home the win in the 400m Dash

 

Seneca earned a team win at home against Ottawa, Pontiac, Fieldcrest and Serena in track and field.

 

The Shepherd 8th grade girls defeated Seneca 25-24 in basketball.

Ella Schmitz finished with 12 points and Marlie Orlandi hit the game winning shot. The Lady Rams finished the season undefeated with a record of 11-0.

The Shepherd 7th grade girls  lost to Seneca 30-14.

Mary Stisser had 6 points for the Lady Rams who finished the season at 5-6.

 

 

Elsewhere in sports

The Sox lost to the Indians 5-0 in Cleveland.  The South-siders head to Cincinnati to play the Reds on Tuesday. 

 

The Cubs lose 13-12 to the Cincinnati Reds in extra innings.

 

The Cardinals completed a three-game road sweep with a 3-0 victory over the Pirates.  

 

The Bulls are at the United Center tonight for a game against the Philadelphia 76ers.  

 

The Blackhawks are back on road ice tonight for the first of three matches with the Carolina 

Hurricanes. 

 

Sam Burns celebrated his first career PGA Tour victory at the Valspar Championship in Florida

 

Medina Spirit won the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby.
