St. Sen. Sue Rezin says when people donate to the state-run veterans homes, they deserve to know where the donations go. The Morris Republican says concerns came up in December about where donations go and how they’re used. She says Senate Bill 2250 would require the homes to report monthly to the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs about donations. Then the IDVA would report quarterly to the General Assembly and Governor.
The concerns in December were that personal care items donated to homes like the one in LaSalle were locked up out of reach of the veterans they were meant for. The bill passed the Senate and is heading to the House.
