The Illinois House yesterday unanimously passed a resolution calling for an investigation into whether enough has been done at the LaSalle veterans home in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak there. The Illinois Auditor General would look into the policy and procedure changes made there in the last five-and-a-half months. And he would look into whether the home has kept up on patient care protocols since 2015. The outbreak at the home claimed 36 residents’ lives. After the problem came to light, the home administrator was fired and the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs resigned.
