The Illinois Department of Transportation is providing grants for truck route improvements in this area. Twenty miles of LaSalle County Highway 2 from U.S. 34 to U.S. 52 will get improvements costing $1.8 million. IDOT is paying $518,400 of it. Nearly two-and-a-half miles of E. 12th St. in Streator will be done for $2.5 million with $219,800 from IDOT. IDOT is also supporting projects on the McNabb Blacktop in Putnam County and Airport Rd. in Morris.
