The city of Marseilles will use a $538,000 grant to deal with Gum Creek flooding issues. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says when the creek floods, it causes problems in the city’s sanitary sewer. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced the grant this past week. It also announced similar funding for Ottawa, Verona, and Wenona to pay for public infrastructure.
