Ottawa Elementary students may have about two weeks left of half-day in-person learning. The school board tonight set an April 26th full day target.

Central School sixth grade teacher Rhonda Hackler doesn’t think it’s safe yet; the board also heard from parent Stephanie Brewer who’s ready for her Lincoln first grader to go full time again.

The district is still negotiating with the teachers’ union on resumption of full days. Supt. Cleve Threadgill says full remote learning will remain available until this school year ends, but probably not after summer break.

Threadgill says there’s no substitute for teachers interacting with children in a classroom.
