The Michigan man accused of shooting at two police officers in Oglesby in December is getting a mental fitness evaluation. Thirty-five year old Peter Bergsma was arrested after a manhunt east of Illinois Valley Community College. He’s charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle. Bergsma was to take his case to trial next week, but Judge H. Chris Ryan took it off the schedule to allow for the fitness evaluation. The defense and prosecution may talk about the findings on April 29th.
