If the LaSalle County Emergency Management Agency needs portable radios in an emergency, it can sometimes get them from the Sheriff’s Department. EMA Deputy Director Fred Moore is hoping a federal grant comes through to turn things around, so he can supply radios to deputies in an emergency. The county’s EMA has asked for a federal grant to get them.

The $36,000 needed for 12 radios would come from a COVID-19 relief fund. Moore is expecting to know soon if it’s approved.

Moore told the County Board Public Safety Committee this week, the federal government is reimbursing the county almost $4,000 to pay for LaSalle County EMA Director Connie Brooks to help at COVID-19 vaccine clinics.
