The Ottawa Fire Department recently received a supply of oxygen masks that fit pets. Fire Chief Andy Borkowski says they’re for resuscitating animals that suffer smoke inhalation. He says they were donated as a result of a recent walk-through inspection at Ottawa Veterinary Hospital.

Borkowski says animals that can find cover or get out of a burning home usually do, so people should give themselves priority. Pets kept in kennels are often the ones that need oxygen.
