Ottawa lost 2-1 to the L-P Cavaliers

  • Giovanni Resendez had the lone goal for the Pirates.

 

In girls volleyball

Ottawa defeated Plano 25-21, 25-19

  • Leading the Lady Pirates were Piper Nanouski  with 11 kills, 7 digs and  Lily Miller had 15 Assists and 4 kills
  • Ottawa JV also defeated Plano  

 

The Ottawa Dolphins swim team finished 2nd in the Northwest District Championship at the YMCA in Sycamore.    

 

District Champions in the 8U division

Ethan Farabaugh in the 25 and 50 Freestyle, 25 Backstroke,

25 Butterfly and the 25 Breaststroke.

Champions in the 12U division

Griffin Sharp in the 50 Backstroke  

Adam Swanson for the 50 and 100 Freestyle 

Quinn Wilkinson won in the  50 and 100 Backstroke, 50 and 100 butterfly and the 50 and 100 Freestyle  

 Joe Ovanic qualified for the National YMCA in the 21U division in the  100 Butterfly and the 100 Backstroke.         

 

MLB

Eloy Jiménez smacked a two-run home run and an RBI double in the White Sox 7-2 win over the Giants at Camelback Ranch.  Tim Anderson added a solo shot and an RBI double for the Southsiders.  Lucas Giolito got the win after tossing four and two thirds scoreless innings. 

 

The Angels hammered the Cubs 15-7 at Tempe Diablo Stadium.  Ian Happ, Patrick Wisdom, and Miguel Amaya each homered for the Northsiders.  Keegan Thompson gave up four runs on five hits in an inning and a third for the loss.  The Cubs host the White Sox today.  Catch the White Sox this season right here on 1430AM WCMY. 

 

The Cardinals suffered a 7-2 defeat to the Marlins in Jupiter, Florida.  Dylan Carlson went two for three with a homer and two RBI for St. Louis.  Jack Flaherty was tagged with the loss after giving up four runs, three earned, in just over five innings of work.  The Cards host the Nationals today.

 

NBA

The Chicago Bulls trailed throughout most of the game in a 120-95 loss to the Jazz at the United Center.  Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 27 points and Thaddeus Young added 14 points.  The Bulls host the Cavs tomorrow.

 

Basketball Hall of Famer Elgin Baylor passed away Monday at the age of 86.  Baylor was an 11-time All-Star as a player in 14 seasons with the Lakers.  After his playing career, he coached the New Orleans Jazz before becoming GM of the LA Clippers.

 

NHL

The Blackhawks host the Panthers tonight. The Hawks are fourth in the Central Division at 14-13-and-5.
