Marquette lost on the road to The Titans in Kewanee 24-6

  • Tight end Victor Mullen caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Alex Graham for the Crusaders.

Streator was dominated in Coal City by the Coalers 48-0.

 

Saturday 

Ottawa was defeated at Plano by the Reapers.  20-7

  • The Pirates Braiden Miller threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Serby in the loss.

The Morris Redskins won on the road at Rochelle beating The Hubs  27-13

 St Bede won big at home against Hall 27-6

Streator Varsity girls defeated Plano

For the Lady Bulldogs,   Natali Haynes had 4 kills, 2 blocks and  Anna Schmitz finished with 16 digs, 1 kill, 1 ace

 

The Illinois Fighting Illini’s season is over after a stunning 71-58 upset loss to Loyola-Chicago in the NCAA Tournament.  Illinois fell behind early thanks to a rash of turnovers. The Illini were led by center Kofi Cockburn who finished with 21-points and nine rebounds.   The Ramblers will now play 12th-seeded Oregon State who also advanced with a victory over fourth-seeded Oklahoma State.

The NCAA Tournament continues tonight which includes top-seeded Gonzaga squaring off with eighth-seeded Oklahoma, and fellow number-one seed Michigan meeting eighth-seeded LSU.

 

There was College football over the weekend 

The ISU Redbirds defeated Western 26-18, SIU was dominated by  South Dakota State in Carbondale 44-3  and on Sunday, The EIU Panthers outscored Tennessee Tech 28-20.

 

The White Sox scored four times in the top of the ninth to escape with a 4-4 tie against the Diamondbacks.  Carlos Perez and Matt Reynolds doubled in runs for the Southsiders, who also got a two-run single from Yermin Mercedes in the comeback.  The Sox will now return home to Camelback Ranch today to play the Giants. 

 

The Chicago Cubs scored three runs in the sixth and eighth innings for an 11-6 win over the Reds at Sloan Park.  The Cubs offense was led by David Bote, who homered twice and drove in five runs, The Northsiders will now head to Tempe to play the Angels today 

 

The St. Louis Cardinals are set to play the Miami Marlins today at their shared park in Jupiter, Florida.  The Cardinals were off on Sunday and have won five of their last eight games, Right-hander Jack Flaherty is scheduled to start for the Cards    

 

The Chicago Bulls snapped a two-game losing game with a 100-86 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Little Caesars Arena.  Three Bulls players scored in double-figures, with Zach LaVine leading the way with 18-points.  The Bulls will host Utah tonight. 

 

Over in NASCAR, Ryan Blaney won the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  

 

In the PGA, Matt Jones was the winner at The Honda Classic
