Ottawa’s south side fire station is open again. The fire fighters moved back in yesterday afternoon. They moved out in late January during remodeling. Fire Chief Andy Borkowski says remodeling wasn’t supposed to displace them, but the contractor discovered asbestos in some of the old material that needed work.
The fire fighters who would have been on the south side stayed at the main fire station. Borkowski says it was crowded, especially with the need to keep people several feet apart because of the pandemic. But he thanks the fire fighters for making it work.
