The Ottawa City Council has approved a bid of about $518,000 from Hacienda Landscaping of Minooka for long awaited Thornton Park improvements. Commissioner Marla Rodriguez says the work to be done this year will be the installation of a splash pad and playground equipment, creating a garden area, and creating pickle ball courts. The animal sculptures will be moved. And there will be other cleanup.
The city received a state grant for $305,100 to help cover costs. A consultant took input on what to do in the park at a public meeting there in 2019.
