The Ottawa Pirates head to Kaneland to take on the Knights and the St Bede Bruins will host Putnam County.

 

Junior High Boys Basketball

Shepherd defeated Mendota at both grade levels on Monday.

8th grade dominated Mendota 45-28. Leading the way for the Rams was Noah Gross with 14 points

The 7th graders outscored Mendota 37-22. The Rams were led by Lucas Farabaugh with 12 points.

 

In college Basketball

Notre Dame rallied past Wake Forest 80-77 in the first round of the ACC tournament. The Fighting Irish move on to face North Carolina.

 

 The White Sox lost 4-2 to the Padres at Camelback Ranch.  Yermín Mercedes had the lone RBI for the Southsiders.  Jimmy Cordero was tagged with the loss and a blown save.  The Sox visit the Reds tomorrow night.  

 

 Rafael Ortega’s walk-off grand slam in the seventh lifted the Cubs to a 9-8 win over the A’s at Sloan Park.  Joc Pederson hit a solo shot and drove in a pair for the Northsiders.  Jake Jewell earned the win in relief.  The Cubs visit the Giants today.

   

The Cardinals led by three before falling 5-3 to the Mets at Clover Park.  Justin Williams homered for St. Louis, while starter Carlos Martínez tossed three scoreless innings in defeat.  Angel Rondón got the loss and a blown save.  The Cards visit the Nationals today.

 

 The Blackhawks were dominated 6-1 by the Stars in Dallas.   Patrick Kane skated in his one-thousandth regular-season game, the youngest player in Hawks history to accomplish that.  The Hawks and Dallas face off again tomorrow night at American Airlines Center

 

The Chicago Bears are placing the franchise tag on wide receiver Allen Robinson.   Last season Robinson hauled in a career-high 102 passes for twelve hundred and fifty yards and six touchdowns.
