It’s called a bicycle auction, but Ottawa Police Captain Dave Gualandri says there are about twice as many things that aren’t bicycles up for sale this year. As the police department accumulates bicycles and other found items, it tries to connect them with owners. After a while, it sells the things whose rightful owners remain unknown.
Gualandri says there are household items like vacuum cleaners and cookware in addition to bicycles in various conditions. Viewing and registration start at 7am this Saturday morning, March 13 at 1016 W. Superior St. The auction will start at 8am.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the auction is at the police station. We regret the error.
