Illinois American Water is taking grant applications until March 29th for environmental projects in its service areas. Locally, those areas include Ransom and Streator. Neither has ever received such a grant.
The company gives money to support watershed protection, such as with a $2,500 grant last year to Friends of the Fox River. It also supports biodiversity projects, hazardous waste collection efforts, stormwater management, river cleanup, and more. They must address a water source or watershed protection need, and they must be completed from May 1 to November 30 this year.
