Jim Marter ran against Republican Adam Kinzinger in a primary in 2018 and he intends to do it again in 2022. Marter says a lot of people had hope that Kinzinger would be a fresh voice for conservatives in Congress. But Marter says it seems like Kinzinger has joined “the swamp”.

Marter says Kinzinger shouldn’t have voted to impeach Pres. Trump. And he says Kinzinger shouldn’t support omnibus spending bills that contain things liberal Democrats want. Democrats who’ve complained about Kinzinger say he supported the Trump agenda 93% of the time. Marter calls that statistic “fake news”.

No one’s sure what the Congressional districts will look like next year. They’ll be redrawn after the Census Bureau releases population data. But Marter and two other Republicans feel it’s not too early to announce their intentions to run in this area and start making themselves known.

Here is an interview WCMY News had with Jim Marter. We’ll talk to other candidates as they respond to our requests.
