A team of tree experts will survey trees on Ottawa city property and rights of way. Mayor Dan Aussem says the experts will recommend how to care for the trees the city’s in charge of.
Aussem expects them to do the work in the spring. One of the maintenance recommendations could be about how to trim trees so they withstand strong winds. Aussem says some state forest managers told the city some trees could have withstood the derecho in August better if the wind could have flowed through them more easily.
