Ottawa City Hall is taking bids until March 17th on the next combined sewer overflow fix. Commissioner Tom Ganiere says it involves an estimated $7 million to $8 million worth of work all over the city.

City Engineer Tom Duttlinger estimates about $24 million worth of work to go after that. He’d like to get it done in the next ten years.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is requiring cities with combined sewers to separate the sanitary and storm sewers so untreated household sewage isn’t going into local streams during heavy rain.
