A collegiate league summer baseball team plans to make Veterans Park in Peru its home field. Dennis Bastien is the Commissioner of the Prospect League. A team called the Pistol Shrimp began looking for a new home last year and found that Peru has a good location, a good field, and good marketing potential. Peru City Council and the league agreed this week to negotiate a lease.
he season starts in late May and must conclude by mid-August so the players maintain their college eligibility. Bastien says ticket prices are about $5 or $6 dollars throughout the league and games draw an average 2,500 spectators each night.
