A Kernan man is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with a shooting in Kernan Friday night. Twenty-six year old Steven A. Shelly is also accused of possession of a firearm without a firearm owner ID card.
The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department says Shelly is accused of confronting two men at his home with a shotgun. The sheriff’s department says a fight started, Shelly lost control of the shotgun, and he pulled out a handgun and fired it. No one was hurt.
The investigation isn’t over. For now, Shelly is locked up at the LaSalle County jail with bond set at $250,000.
