An Oglesby street is known as Sunset Blvd. for about three-quarters of a mile. Then it suddenly becomes Roebuck St. for the last 200 feet. Nobody seems to know that except map makers and whoever put up the sign for Roebuck.
City Commissioner Jason Curran was surprised to find out when city officials were making sure some zoning change paperwork was in order.
Mayor Dominic Rivara says he also didn’t know Sunset became Roebuck. Curran wants to make the rest of the street Sunset Blvd. before it’s extended and businesses start using it in their addresses. The ordinance to do that is on file for a vote later this month. Commissioner Thomas Argubright objected after asking what it will cost to make the change.
