Nora Lou McKee, age 86, of Wedron, Illinois, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Aperion Care in Marseilles, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Crossbridge Community Church in Ottawa with Pastor Sherry Stevenson officiating. Private burial will follow at DeBolt Cemetery in Wedron. There will be no visitation. Honorary pallbearers will be Colt Deckard, Ryan Hill, Payton Green, Brodie Sharp, Jeff Pabian, Nathan Goodchild, and Brandon Swartz. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nora was born February 21, 1934 in Oakdale, Tennessee, a daughter of Noah and Florence (Robbins) Byrd. She married the love of her life, James McKee on August 7, 1954 in Georgia. He preceded her in death February 6, 2006. She is survived by five children, Dianna (Gene) Hill of Ottawa, Jerry (Kumi) McKee of Sasebo, Japan, Norma (Randall) Dyer of Suffolk, Virginia, Janet Deckard of Waynesville, Missouri, and Lisa (Richie) Scott of Marseilles, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Ryan Hill, Megan McKee, Shannon (Victor) Williams, Colt (Victoria) Deckard, Danielle (Brandon) Swartz, Holly (Jeff) Pabian, Alyse (Brodie) Sharp, and Delaney (Nathan) Goodchild; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 8 siblings, granddaughters, Jessica Green and Kayla and Kellie Hill, and a son in-law, Lon Deckard.
Nora was raised Southern Baptist. She enjoyed crochet, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. She was a great seamstress and took pride in making her children’s clothing. Nora was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
