Collective bargaining rights, highway naming honors in new Yednock bills

St. Rep. Lance Yednock wants the people of Illinois to vote on making collective bargaining a right under the state’s constitution. He introduced a resolution on it earlier this month. It’s been sent to a committee for review.

Other bills he’s sponsoring would honor military members from the area with highway and bridge names. Part of U.S. 6 in Marseilles would be named for Air Force Sgt. Michael Vangelisti, who died in an aircraft accident in Vietnam in 1970. Another part would be named for Army Specialist Norman Treest, who died in Vietnam in 1967. And the Illinois River Bridge south of Utica would be the Ralph E. Snell Memorial Bridge, in honor of a World War II Army infantryman who captured enemy positions in Japan despite being wounded.

Those bills have also been sent to committee.
