St. Sen. Sue Rezin says there should be another hearing into the coronavirus outbreak at the veterans home in LaSalle. The Morris Republican and St. Sen. Paul Schimpf of Waterloo sent a letter to the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman asking for one. They say that with the entire Senate in Springfield for the lame duck legislative session, it would be a “natural time” to hold a hearing.
They’re asking for the Illinois Department of Public Health to answer questions about why it didn’t get involved at the home for nearly two weeks into the outbreak. The coronavirus outbreak has slowed down there, but it claimed 36 of the veterans home residents’ lives since late October.
