Two of the five mothers going to court against Gov. Pritzker and the Illinois High School Association over postponed and cancelled sports seasons are from LaSalle County.
Lisa Marie Moore says her son, Trevor Till, died of suicide on October 21st because not having the opportunity to go pole vaulting for school devastated him. She says stopping high school sports destroyed a person who was his senior high school class president, a drum major, a speech team captain, and a National Honor Society president at Seneca High School.
Christine Simmons says her son, Tristan, is angry and depressed because he doesn’t have wrestling as an outlet for stress anymore. She says the Ottawa High School student can’t qualify for wrestling scholarships either.
They and three other women are asking a LaSalle County judge to find the governor’s COVID-19 mitigation orders ending sports a violation of their children’s rights.
