The Illinois Supreme Court is taking applications from lawyers interested in being judges in this area. Judge Gene Daugherity accepted an appointment to the Third District Appellate Court. That leaves an opening in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. The state’s highest court is taking applications until January 12.
Whoever is chosen for the circuit judge’s job, it’ll be until December 2022. Then, a new term will start for whoever wins the November 2022 election for it. That could be the person who’s appointed to the job, if he or she campaigns for it.
