A special prosecutor will be named to handle that side of the Chester Weger Starved Rock murder case. The new LaSalle County State’s Attorney, Todd Martin, asked for that because he has a conflict of interest. The lawyers currently representing the 81-year old Weger are trying to get new examinations of old evidence and to hunt for previously unknown evidence.
It’s been more than 60 years since three women were killed in Starved Rock State Park and Weger was charged with the murders. He spent about six decades in prison until his release on parole this year.
