Democrats on the Illinois House committee given the job of investigating ComEd and House Speaker Michael Madigan have called everything off. The committee is closing its case with no recommendations. It was supposed to be looking into how ComEd allegedly tried to influence Madigan with favors in exchange for favorable legislation.
Dixon Republican Tom Demmer was on the committee and asks if anyone thinks its work is done. The committee met three times over the last four months. It called just one witness.
Demmer says the situation adds to the distrust people feel for politics at the state capitol.
