Last night there was a doubleheader on Monday Night Football.

The Steelers are unbeaten no more.  Alex Smith passed for 296 yards and a touchdown as Washington rallied for a 23-17 win at Pittsburgh.  The Steelers are now 11-and-1.  Washington has won three straight to get to 5-and-7.

In Game Two,  Josh Allen threw for 375 yards and four touchdowns as the Bills defeated the 49ers 34-24 on Monday Night Football in Glendale Arizona.  Cole Beasley finished with 130 receiving yards and a touchdown for Buffalo, which moved to an AFC East-best 9-and-3.  Nick Mullens threw for 316 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions as San Francisco fell to 5-and-7.

The Ravens and Cowboys will play tonight in Baltimore.  The game was pushed back due to COVID-19 issues with the Ravens.  Baltimore is looking to snap a three-game skid that has its playoff chances in jeopardy at 6-and-5.  Dallas is just 3-and-8 on the year.

In College Basketball tonight 

  Ninth-ranked Illinois is in Durham, North Carolina to face number-11 Duke.  The Illini enter at 3-and-1, while the Blue Devils are 2-and-1.  Duke leads the all-time series 5-and-2 over Illinois.

The 0-3 NIU Huskies will host the 1-2 Ball State Cardinals in Dekalb.  

 

And Notre Dame will host the twenty second ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. The Fighting Irish are 1-1 on the season.

 A pair of ACC/Big Ten Challenge basketball games are being postponed due to COVID-19.  Wednesday’s Louisville-Wisconsin and North Carolina  State-Michigan games have been called off.  The 24th-ranked Cardinals and Wolfpack are both dealing with positive tests within their programs.  The 13th-ranked Badgers announced they will now host Rhode Island on Wednesday instead

Saturday’s football game between number five Texas A&M and Ole Miss is being postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Rebels’ program.  Texas A&M is currently second in the SEC behind Alabama.  

 Lance Lynn is joining the White Sox.  Multiple reports say Chicago has acquired the right-hander from the Texas Rangers for right-hander Dane Dunning and left-handed pitching prospect Avery Weems. The White Sox had been looking to add another starting pitcher to accompany Lucas Giolito and former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel, both of whom excelled this past season and helped the Sox make their first postseason appearance since 2008.    

The White Sox are aso  mourning the passing of former player Dick Allen.  The Pennsylvania native died yesterday at the age of 78. The seven-time All-Star won the 1964 NL Rookie of the Year with Philadelphia.  He joined the White Sox in 1972 and was the AL MVP that season.  Allen finished his career with Oakland in 1977.

 Breakdancing has been confirmed as an official Olympic sport. The International Olympic Committee’s pursuit of urban events to lure a younger audience saw street dance battles officially added to the medal events program at the 2024 Paris Games..
