The Bears losing streak continues following a heartbreaking 34-30 loss to the Lions at Soldier Field.  Chicago held a 30-20 lead over Detroit late in the game, but the Lions scored two touchdowns with under two-and-a-half minutes remaining.  Mitch Trubisky threw for 267 yards and a touchdown but had a crucial fumble late in the game.  David Montgomery rushed for two scores for the Bears, who have now lost six straight for the first time in the same season since 2002.  Chicago is now 5-and-7 heading into next Sunday’s matchup with the Texans at home.

Elsewhere in the NFC North, the Packers beat the Eagles 30-16 at Lambeau Field. Aaron Rodgers threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns to become the fastest quarterback to throw 400 TD’s in his career.  

The Vikings outscored the Jaguars 27-24 at U.S. Bank Stadium.  Kirk Cousins passed for 305 yards and three touchdowns.

There is a Monday Night Football doubleheader tonight.  First, Washington plays the 11-and-0 Steelers in Pittsburgh.  That will be followed by the 49ers hosting the Bills in Arizona.  The game was moved due to recent COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara County.

 

In College Basketball

Illinois’ game Saturday against Tennessee-Martin was canceled because of COVID-19 cases in the Skyhawks program.

The game will not be rescheduled, according to a news release Friday by the university of Illinois . The # 5 Illini will next play # 6 Duke  on Tuesday in Durham, North Carolina.  

Northern Illinois lost  on the road to the  Pitt Panthers 89-59 The Huskies are now 0-3 and will host Ball State tomorrow.

Northwestern dominated Chicago State over the weekend 111- 66. The Wildcats  start the season at 2-0 and will host Pitt on Wednesday.

 

COVID-19 continues to delay the start of the season for the DePaul men’s basketball team.  Less than an hour before tip off  The Blue Demons game against Iowa State yesterday was canceled under guidelines for coronavirus protocols.  The Blue Demon’s next scheduled game is set for Friday against Seton Hall.

 

In College Football, 

Illinois fell to number-19 Iowa, 35-21, on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.  The Illini, who dropped to 2-and-4 closes out the regular season next Saturday on the road against 14th ranked Northwestern. 

Northwestern is Big Ten West Division champions for the second time in three seasons.  The 5-and-1 Wildcats have clinched a berth in the 2020 Big Ten Football Championship Game in Indianapolis on December 19th.  They are the fourth program in Big Ten Conference history to make multiple appearances in the Big Ten Football Championship Game.  

 Ian Book threw three touchdown passes and ran for two scores in his final home game at Notre Dame, leading the second-ranked Fighting Irish to a 45-21 victory against Syracuse. Next up for The Irish is the Dec. 19 ACC championship game against Clemson in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In the PGA, Viktor Hovland won the Mayakoba Golf Classic at El Camaleon in Mexico.
