December 8 will be when LaSalle County Circuit Judge Gene Daugherity becomes a Third District Appellate Court judge. He says he’s humbled and honored to work with review court judges, some of whom have reviewed his work in trial court.
Daugherity will serve on the appellate court for two years and retire. He says it’ll be the perfect capstone to his career.
Earlier this month, Daugherity earned retention to the circuit judge’s job in LaSalle County. Circuit judges go through retention votes every six years.
Lawsuits and other cases in Daugherity’s courtroom will be reassigned to other judges. For some litigants, hearings will be rescheduled.
