For 45 years, the American Cancer Society has been urging smokers to put down the cigarettes, even if it’s for just one day. The idea is that if you can quit for a day, you can quit for longer. Most smokers, however, quit and resume several times. Some of them are eventually able to put it behind them.
Shana Cruise with the society’s Cancer Action Network says it certainly is hard to quit.
Cruise says you can go to QuitYes.org online or call 866-QUIT-YES to find out what the options are. The American Cancer Society had its 45th annual Great American Smokeout day last week.
