Aliska Hammon of Grand Ridge wins a free roof replacement from Beacon Building Products. The company held a contest to give away free roofs to struggling veterans.
Hammon was in the Army National Guard. Not having to worry about coming up with $20,000 to replace her roof, she says she can pay her nursing school tuition. People voted on ten finalists in the Beacon of Hope contest. The three top winners get new roofs; seven runners up get $2,500.
