With local coronavirus cases surging, the Illinois Department of Public Health has put LaSalle County back on the orange warning list. It’s meant to call attention to the seriousness of the situation. The LaSalle County Health Department says the warning status is because of a seven-day positive test rate of over 8% and an increase in the fatal case numbers by more than 20% for two weeks.
As of Friday, the county has 1,197 active coronavirus cases. Seventy-five people have died of it, including a man in his 80s and a woman in her 100s added to the count Friday.
