It’s time to replace the 2015 natural hazards mitigation plan that LaSalle County and four other counties crafted. LaSalle County is doing its own plan this year and local governments have been approving it. Environmental Services and Land Use Director Brian Gift says it helps communities qualify for federal and state grant money.
With the plan, the county and cities in it can show there’s a reason for asking for money for a storm warning siren, a flood wall, or other things that can help minimize a disaster.
