Don Jensen appears to be the winner of the LaSalle County Board Chairman’s race. But he didn’t want to talk about it last night because of the possibility that outstanding mail-in ballots will change the result. His lead as of last night is 26,229 to 23,123.
He’s the LaSalle County Republican Party Chairman. Democrats have taken more than Republicans to mail-in voting. LaSalle County Clerk Lori Bongartz has up to two weeks to receive and count ballots mailed in with a postmark before Election Day.
In the contested county board races, Randy Freeman appears to have won reelection with 60% of the votes in southwest LaSalle County. But it’s a closer call for Republican Douglas Stockley over Democrat Tom McNamara 53% to 47% in north central LaSalle County.
