Fire damaged part of a one-story house along Illinois 18 west of Streator yesterday afternoon. No people were home when the fire started. A dog that was there wasn’t hurt.
Numerous fire departments fought a field fire west of Tonica yesterday afternoon. That was along Cedar Point-Tonica Rd. or County Highway 54. Strong winds made it a challenge to fight. So did everything being so dry from hardly any rain falling for three weeks.
