The city of Peru intends to ask for a grant to move an electric substation out of the floodplain. City Engineer Eric Carls says the project might costs millions of dollars, but he knows of a federal grant that’ll cover 75%. Knight Engineering will be paid $15,400 to help prepare the grant request.
Peru’s Engineering and Zoning Department is also lining up engineering firms that can design the new substation which will be on Center St. The old one is on Water St.
