Eucharistic Adoration Sanctuaries at Ottawa Catholic churches remain closed due to the pandemic.

Of the mass schedule Father David Kipfer, Pastor at St. Columba, says:

A unique feature of Catholic churches is an Adoration chapel. They are usually beside or behind the main altar.

When a consecrated Eucharist is displayed on the altar in this type of auxiliary chapel, Catholics believe Jesus Christ is especially present.

Since the pandemic began, Adoration chapels in many Catholic churches are shuttered as elderly are the most vulnerable to the coronavirus and they are often among those who staff these sanctuaries.

Father Kipfer says the chapels will likely reopen after a COVID 19 vaccine is found.
