Sen. Dick Durbin believes Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court is all about eliminating Pres. Obama’s health care law. When the Judiciary Committee hearing started Monday, Durbin told the story of the Murray family of Tinley Park. A child now six years old was born with a heart defect and needed a series of surgeries that cost more than $1 million. That’s where the family’s insurance coverage would have maxed out.
Durbin says other things are at stake including voting rights, abortion, gun safety laws, same sex marriage, and protections for labor. He says the nomination of a new Supreme Court justice should wait until after the election.
