Plan ahead and see fall colors at state parks

By WCMY News Oct 9, 2020 | 4:42 PM

Majestic bluffs and canyons at Starved Rock take a backseat to an amazing fall color burst this weekend.

Lisa Sons, the Natural Resource Coordinator at Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources explains:

Due to the pandemic, many state park visitor centers are temporarily closed. One way you can get around that and still see everything at state parks this fall is by visiting the IDNR website at www2 dot Illinois dot gov backslash D N R in advance.

There you can plan any trip ahead and not miss out on any special features that the park you want to visit may offer.

To pre register for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8:30am hike, visit event brite dot com.
Masks are mandatory because it is impossible to social distance on congested trails and crowded staircases.
