If Mendota lawyer Todd Martin wins the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s race, he could have the job of prosecuting a Streator man with the same name. Streator police say a 44-year old Todd Martin turned himself in on a retail theft charge Wednesday afternoon. If the lawyer wins the election on November 3rd and if the accused man’s case is still pending on December 1st, prosecutor Todd Martin and defendant Todd Martin could face each other in court.
The elected prosecutor could just as well have an assistant state’s attorney handle it. Todd Martin of Mendota is running for State’s Attorney against incumbent Karen Donnelly.
