The state’s new coronavirus case count went up by 3,059 Thursday, a one-day number that’s up substantially from just a few weeks ago when new cases were less than 2,000. The Illinois Department of Public Health says cases so far have totaled 310,700. There have been 8,910 fatal cases across Illinois, including 32 added Thursday.
The state says 1,755 people were hospitalized in Illinois with the virus as of Wednesday night. Of them, 392 were in intensive care units and 163 were on ventilators.
The LaSalle County Health Department reported 31 new coronavirus cases Thursday. New cases ranged in age from the teens to the 90s. The county has had a total of 1,920 cases. There were 19 more recoveries for a total of 1,394. Fatal cases held at 57.
