LaSalle County Democratic Party Chair Dani Brzozowski says Pres. Trump should have condemned the Proud Boys instead of telling them to “stand back” and “stand by”. She says the president should speak out against violence in the name of white supremacy. We asked her if Joe Biden should have condemned Antifa.
Brzozowski says as far as she knows, Antifa, like Biden said during the presidential debate Tuesday night, is an idea and not an organization.
Larry Smith, LaSalle County Republican Party Chair, thinks the term “white supremacist” is thrown around against people who aren’t white supremacists.
The Proud Boys call themselves “western chauvinists”. The Southern Poverty Law Center calls the group a hate group.
Brzozowski wishes both men had discussed their points of view instead of mudslinging and talking over each other. Smith agrees.
Brzozowski says she’s disappointed, but she also thinks most people didn’t expect much else from the presidential candidate debate.
Smith says the debate was unsatisfactory.
