$75,000 bail is set for Leroy E. Persinger of Streator who faces up to 14 years in prison if convicted after being caught in a manhunt in Southern LaSalle County.

Persinger was in court Tuesday accused of stealing a utility truck from Designs and Signs in Streator and a felony charge of burglary.

29 year old Persinger was pulled over a little after 1:00AM Monday morning and allegedly resisted arrest. He was caught 10 hours later in a bean field northwest of Streator.

Persinger appeared before Judge H. Chris Ryan Tuesday at Etna Road Courthouse at 10:00AM.

Persinger’s companion 51 year Nancy Newell also appeared in court Tuesday morning before the same judge who set her bail at 50,000. She is charged with a Class 2 felony burglary charge and faces 3 to 7 years in prison if convicted.

Both defendants had public defenders appointed.

Persinger will be arraigned October 8th at Etna Road and Newell will be arraigned October 9.
