State Police say six vehicles were involved in the fiery and fatal crash on Interstate 80 Friday morning. A 47-year old LaSalle woman and a 43-year old Joliet man in different vehicles died.
Two drivers, 64-year old Raymond J. Ramel of Manhattan, Illinois and 55-year old Debra M. Herkes of Naplate, were taken to local hospitals. State Police say their injuries are not life threatening. A 39-year old Joliet man’s injuries are life threatening. Two drivers declined medical help.
Four of the vehicles, including a box truck, a van, and an SUV, were fully engulfed in flames. The State Police say the pileup happened in an area where traffic was slowed down because of construction about a mile ahead.
