Yesterday the Indians jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and went on to beat the White Sox 7-4 in Cleveland.  Eloy Jimenez belted a two-run homer during a four-run fifth that tied the game for Chicago, which has dropped four out of six games.. Game two of the series is today with the pre-game show starting at 4:35 and the first pitch at 5:10pm on the home for White Sox baseball 1430 WCMY.

 

Jon Lester threw six shutout innings as the Cubs beat the Pirates 5-0 in Pittsburgh.  Kyle Schwarber doubled in a pair of runs in the eighth and David Bote singled in another to put the game on ice.  The series resumes tonight.

 

The Royals bullpen allowed zero runs in just over five innings of work in a 4-1 victory over the Cardinals in Kansas City.  Matt Carpenter homered in the second for St. Louis’ lone run. The series continues tonight.

 

The Blackhawks Dominik Kubalik capped off his rookie season by being named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team.  He also finished third in Calder Trophy voting for the league’s top rookie during the regular season.   Kubalik is just the fifth player in Hawks history to score at least 30 regular season goals as a rookie.

 

The Raiders were victorious in their Las Vegas debut as they rocked the Saints 34-24 on Monday Night Football. Derek Carr passed for 282 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders moved to 2-and-0.

The NFL is fining a trio of head coaches for not wearing masks on Sunday.  The Broncos’ Vic Fangio, the Seahawks’ Pete Carroll and the 49ers’ Kyle Shanahan were docked 100-thousand each.  Each team was also fined 250-thousand.

 

NBA legend Michael Jordan is partnering with driver Denny Hamlin to start a NASCAR Cup Series team next year with Bubba Wallace as their driver.  Jordan is the current owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.

  • Isabel Heimsoth and Rylee O’Fallon were  winners in doubles.

 

The Seneca Fighting Irish scored 179 to claim first in a triangular contest with Mendota and Hall at Spring Creek.

  •  Mendota’s Ethan Hanaman led all golfers with a score of 36

 

At  the Little Ten Conference Boys Golf Tournament at Indian Oaks Country Club, Big Rock captured the team win with a score of 356.  Somonauk finished second with 365 just ahead of the team of Newark-Serena with a score of 366.

  • Somonauk’s Jaylen Dion led all golfers finishing with a score of 84.
