Streator industrial park street name to honor Vactor history

By WCMY News Sep 10, 2020 | 1:18 PM

A new street next to Vactor in Streator’s South Industrial Park will probably be named Myers-Sherman Dr. Myers-Sherman is the company that became known as Vactor Manufacturing. It moved to Streator in the 1930s.

City Engineer Jeremy Palm explained to the City Council this week, the potential confusion another suggested name could cause. Vactor says logistics companies could have trouble directing truck drivers to the right docks if the new street is called Illinois Place. Its other docks are on Illinois St.

The new street is on the Livingston County side of Streator, so the street naming paperwork will be submitted to the Livingston County government.
