Illinois House candidate Travis Breeden says he spent a night in jail eight years ago after a ruckus with his then-wife at their home. He says she didn’t want him to leave to visit his father who was in a hospital, so she started damaging things inside his truck. Breeden says she ended up with a cut on her hand, so he was taken to jail. Breeden says he was charged with a crime that a judge later found him not guilty of.

WCMY News couldn’t find a court record of any charges from the incident against Breeden. Court records show his wife got one year on conditional discharge for battery. She was accused of attacking a woman who took out an order of protection against her. Breeden says that was his mom.

He says he’s talking about the case now in case Ottawa Democrat Lance Yednock uses it against him in the race for the 76th District Illinois House seat.
